PytchBlack and the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic Unveil New Brand Strategy
PytchBlack, a Fort Worth based creative firm, announced today an unveiling of a new Brand Tagline and campaign for the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association (CBAA), the owner and operator of the annual Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic post-season football game.
“Like No Other”will serve as a primary brand position and marketing platform for all of the Classic’s advertising, branding and collateral moving forward.
“We believe in pushing the envelope as thought leaders in our field, and our new brand statement and creative are a direct reflection of us wanting to be more forward facing with our values,” Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic CMO Michael Konradi said. “PytchBlack has brought a fresh approach and really helped our team look at how we view ourselves as well as how we position ourselves in the marketplace,”
The agency was selected in May to lead the annual campaign creation and branding strategy for the 84-year old college football staple, along with a review of the Classic’s current brand platform. The new tagline is accompanied by a pop art inspired creative campaign look for the 2019 football season.
“We approached this assignment by understanding the history and significance of this historic game the organization itself,” PytchBlack Managing Partner Andrew Yanez said. “Our job wasn’t to create a new identity, but to help sports fans understand the significance of the Classic within the New Years Six and postseason system.”
Sports fans of the traditional New Years’ Six game will see signage and artwork created by PytchBlack throughout the stadium, on printed collateral, and on media platforms.
The addition of the News Year’s Six Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic marks the sixth college football bowl game that PytchBlack has partnered with for the 2019 season. PytchBlack also works with ESPN Events on college basketball marketing and branding, along with recently designing the event mark for the inaugural ESPN Collegiate E-Sports Championship last May.
